Will me and this girl ever date?

We have known each other since 4th grade, and our parents have known each other for longer. We were pretty good Friends until I left for a different high school junior year, but have hung out once a month or so since then. She has dated a few other guys but I've been single this entire time. We go to college 4 hours apart from each other but where she goes is home for me, so I see her a lot when I come home. Currently she is dating this guy for about a month or so, but has also been asking me to hang out a lot more and texting me literally everyday for a month now. I know these symptoms sound like friends but could she just be waiting for me to be back home during spring semester? She is a great girl and I feel like we could go a long way in a relationship but I'm not sure
