I need a job, but no one calls back?

I've applied EVERYWHERE and have had no call backs. I need a job this summer and have gone to a job fair and had others recommend me, but I don't understand why I can't get a job. I've got experience working at a mini donut trailer, volunteering, and I have honors in High School. I just graduated this month so it's not like I'm looking for a fast food job. It pisses me off A LOT when my mom bugs me to start applying, and I get super frustrated when she tells me that I'm not trying hard enough. I don't know what to do. I've applied at retail, grocery stores, cafes, everywhere I can think of.
